J.L. Jubert

The walls begin to crack, fissures running along
The beams of its back, the pipes of its veins.
It can no longer support the emptiness of its weight,
The void of its rooms, the deafening sound of no one.

Reminiscence Armada is a collection of free-verse poems which weaves together a tender tapestry of heartbreak, grief, and loss. Centred around the end of a significant relationship and the aftermath of being slowly jilted, the work expands to explore the author's experiences with the fading memory of their grandmother, the fickleness of past lovers, the passing of their beloved dog, and the quiet erosion of old friendships and once-familiar places. Divided into four major sections, the poems reach for what we can never quite grasp, moving through the rawness of grief toward reflections on the bittersweet act of remembering, culminating in an acceptance of the reality of loss. Thoughtful, heartfelt, and beautifully written, this book will resonate with readers who have experienced the gnawing weight of absence in its many forms.

J.L. Jubert

J. L. Jubert has been writing poetry since he was seventeen. What began as an exercise to relieve his homesickness while studying at an out-of-province university gradually grew into something more meaningful. Over time, poetry became a conduit through which he could find catharsis by reflecting on his experiences. Inspired by the power of writing to help one move on, Jubert wrote Reminiscence Armada, his first published collection of poetry.
Outside of writing, Jubert is an avid reader and moviegoer. He lives in Montreal.
